TIPS FOR SECURE ONLINE SHOPPING
When entering your banking or credit card details always look for the padlock in the bottom right of the screen. This is the sign of a secure connection. If you do not see the padlock do not enter your details as there is not a guarantee that they will be safe. Never provide personal and especially not bank or credit card details and passwords by email.
Check the terms and conditions that you are accepting. It is all too easy just to click yes through the T&Cs (We've all done it) but it is very important to know what contractual terms you are agreeing to. You can view our terms by clicking here or on the T&Cs tab at the top of the page.
Keep your computer protected by installing and maintaining anti virus software, keeping windows updated through the Microsoft Security updates and choosing good passwords. A good password is a mixture of letters and numbers. Avoid the obvious such as date of birth and names.
There are constantly new scams about. Our company was recently targetted with fraudulent emails requesting an item be shipped to Nigeria. The "Buyer" then tried to trick us into thinking they had made payment. The key here is to always take a step back and think over what is being proposed and where possible double check everything you are being told with other sources. If you are in doubt don't get your wallet out!
The final thing to remember is that there are honest people out there and in truth the fraudsters are in the minority. The internet is a fantastic resource as long as you use it sensibly and cautiously.
