The Canon Range of digital cameras

This factsheet explains the digital cameras in the Canon range. There are currently three main digital camera ranges from Canon. In the compact category, there is the IXUS range. The Powershot range encompasses both the compact and SLR style categories, whilst in the Digital SLR category there is the EOS range.

The IXUS range

The IXUS cameras are about style and design. Merging Canon technology with the desire to impress.

At the Entry level there are the IXUS i, IXUS i5 and the i zoom. These are ultra small digital cameras that can easily fit in your pocket.

Next there are six ultra compacts: the IXUS 40, IXUS 50, IXUS 55, IXUS Wireless, IXUS 60 and IXUS 65.

Finally at the upper end of the IXUS range are the larger IXUS 500, IXUS 700, IXUS 750 and IXUS 800 IS.

The Powershot range

Not as sleek or stylish as the IXUS range but still compact and lightweight. At the Entry level there are the A400, A410, A430 and the A530.

The next level in the Powershot range offer far more user creativity due to their manual exposure options including aperture and shutter speed. The cameras in this range are the A510, A520, A540, A610, A620 and A700.

Powershots with longer zoom lenses and packed with features. The S1 IS, S2 IS and the S3 IS.

Powershots with wide angle lenses and packed with features. The S60, S70 and the S80.

Finally in the Powershot range, for the more serious photographer are the G6 and the top of the Powershot range the Pro1. These cameras offer SLR style functionality.
